
This is a failed romance that crosses several continents, based on the experience of the person Alexandra Lucas Coelho who decided to turn her love story in literature.
In this book you approach a very particular period in the history of Palestine, why you chose this and not other more important about the history of this country?
Alexandra Lucas Coelho: Because this book is my experience, that is all that is here, meaning, the real circumstances that happen to me. So I moved to the literature a love story, besides other things, has an echo in my personal and professional experience. I gave my cirscuntâncias to Ana Blau, not me, because it is something else, she is in the territory that is literature, is an offshoot of my circumstances, but derives from them. I actually was in Warsaw when they phoned from the Public to ask if I could go to the funeral of Arafat and during the coverage of this event I met someone exactly like I tale here, begins at this point because it is the beginning of a story I am narrating that is a love story that takes place alongside this scenario.
Then the Portuguese journalist who appears in the book end up being you.
ALC: As I was saying this character is no longer me, the starting point of the character is me, I gave my biographical circumstances, my experience, what I experienced as a reporter, then she is crafted in the text, I am writing a daily, in a territory that is literature, which has its own existence. It has my real circumstances, I treat them with other freedom with a displacement of me, with a figure that I create . This journalist is not me .
It is a treaty on the wandering ? She goes through various parts of the world, although her home in Barcelona.
ALC: She is Catalan, but all trips that are here happen for two reasons : for professional reasons, because then she decides to go live to Jerusalem and settles there, or amorous reasons. I do not see her as a roving character, the wandering has no purpose, the character is always traveling for a reason, she first goes to Israel for the funeral of Arafat then decided to stay there because she thinks the experience has to be developed in a longer stay. Them, she goes to Paris, to Spain, to Italy and Catalonia, it all has to do with the love story, there is always a reason for this trip , I do not see it as wandering, an aimless glide.
The fact that the love story is fragmented, they see each other very few times , was an attempt to transpores to book a great tragic romance .
ALC : No, the story was those circumstances that are real .

The unaesthetic Group is currently responsible for the cultural space of the Sobralinho Palace in Vila Franca de Xira. A schedule that Alexandre Lyra Leite and his team intend to be eclectic and has quality. But there are many surprises this year .
The cultural activity of the Palace began in 2013 and now in its second edition . But I wonder why you chose that particular location ?
Alexandre Lyra Leite : The palace Sobralinho result of a protocol signed with the Municipality of Vila Franca de Xira, after these twenty years of work , the city council has always supported our activity thought it was time to give us a space where we could hold a cultural program, with other conditions and ambition. The partnership allows us to host the company there and in return stimulate a space that is local, that can be used by people, but in which did not happen before any events . Currently unaesthetic assumes its consistent schedule with new artists , but also with some established to encourage the public to go to that space that is so special .
I realized by the program is multifaceted have lyrical music , beyond the theater, but you also have workshops. Notes a concern to have a consistent schedule, however, what is your guide line ?
ALL : What guides us is quality and identify with what appears there.
How you select the roups, they have come to you or is it the opposite?
ALL : In the early stages results of a network of complicity which artists are our friends we made along this route, resulted in phone calls and emails. At this point, as this project grow and gain visibility we started to receive many proposals and have the need to select. Anyway, we closed the program by December and we are already beginning to plan for 2015, this means that there is a great desire on the part of artists, they feel much need to move and make a circuit which is not necessarily the cinemas theaters, or great spaces. Quality for us is to know that the public will find in the Palace performances that are worth the trip, because it has a level and an artistic quality that does not disappoint expectations. The program is very diverse because we want to reach all audiences, the fado is one of these aspects, the opera is another and our idea is not be close in a friends club, it does not seem interesting, but open programming the greatest number of people, opening a space that is local and should be shared by all. If we did only performances we were reducing the enclosing to our tribe, so we bet a very eclectic program, different artists, but we liked that because we have this emotional identification. We must be proud of what we showed there.
When you look at the schedule for 2013, which was better and what you think we can improve and are implementing this new program ?
ALL : In 2013 we started in September and only had 3 months of programming . It was a very auspicious start up because the population joined, there was a fantastic adhesion to various events and felt that there was willingness on the part of people to seek that space with certain characteristics, and with a schedule that is distinguished at regional level . And so our thinking was highly positive these months, we feel that we made things very comprehensive and reach multiple audiences, what can we do better? We need more support from authorities .

The shooting of this Portuguese feature film begin in September, after 4 weeks of filming the prospect is trying to submit it to festivals in early 2015 and the ambition that the movie has an audience and this can only be achieved with a distributor.
Why you remembered to write a screenplay titled " squatter man" ? What is behind this idea ?
Luís Campos : The first version of the script I wrote was in 2008 , the title was "squats" , not " man squatter ". Was based on a more or less true story about a community of squatters in Barcelona, I found it interesting and I started writing the script . The text has evolved, there were new versions, however since being in London , around 2010-2012 , I discovered this plasmic phenomenon is termed "squater man ." Scientists who studied claim that it was something that happened 10 thousand years ago, it is a visible form of heaven in various parts of the world, because they began to be pictorial representations and later gave him the name "squater man ." It is a kind of human figure, like a " stick man " , is the very basic design of the human body, arms, torso and legs and there are several representations of this form all over the planet on the same date at the time of the Neolithic when I found out about this phenomenon the " squatter man" thought it was a great parallel between this phenomenon and the history of occupation that I was trying to write and started design it, draws it from there .
After you transported this story for our country , now you're gonna shoot it in Portugal .
LC : If the initial script started this story because it is a community occupiers in Barcelona, with the passage of time has evolved centered on a person who returns to his hometown and tries to start a some sort of community occupies, this act generates a group in its surroundings , the first version was not thought to be filmed in Portugal, was faster to adapt to our country, to reach the parallelism that I mentioned.
You already showed a small excerpt of what it looks like a caveman, which does not implement this idea in any way of what you just said that is the script of the film is all about.
LC : That opening sequence of the film managed to film it with the help of some friends, with the assistance of a production company of the university where I took the course. I have been to Portugal for a week in the Serra da Estrela, and filmed this initial sequence with some savings I made in Amsterdam, which supposedly is at that time of the Neolithic , where the phenomenon occurs and there is the reaction of these humans of what they saw and the worship that start paying after this vision. All the rest of the film will not have any direct relationship with this snippet, is more to serve as an analogy, a metaphor for everything that will follow the film .
You initiated a campaign of crowdfunding to help raise financial support to complete this feature.
LC : Exactly. I have a group of friends, the technical team, who want to help me finnish this project, I have some actors who want to contribute what they can, ie , without payment of any kind and I am also trying to insert myself in a the activities of the festival Arouca cinema. I want to also get some involvement of the local community, of Drave, Alvarinho, is a village that is completely deserted, has houses of shale, which no longer one lives, and this story of the film that I lack filming, the character will occupy this area that is deserted. We tried the crowdfunding campaign because despite getting almost everything at zero cost and get free equipment, have to ensure that the people who will help me have a place to eat, sleep, and transportation and was in this sense that we tried to arrange financing. The crowdfunding campaign closed, went wrong, but it was good to learn. When I want to perform some similar 'll do it differently , I do not know if for movie I´ll go back to do it, I think not, but it was an attempt, like so many others since the script was first developed to try to make it one reality. Continue with the idea to start shooting in September and now we are probing any chance of support to meet those expenses that are unavoidable .

Zé Pereira is a young illustrator who recently finished his drawing course at the College of Fine Arts in Lisbon, but he already shows great talent and maturity in his drawings .
What attracts you to this type of drawing pen?
José Pereira : I cannot explain it, since I started drawing I usually draw with a pen. And it was something that just happens, there is no specific reason, I have a few years of practice, I never got myself motivated to do something else . Maybe if I experienced other alternatives I would also like it, aside of what I had in class. Never opted for anything willingly, it was always the pen, there is not a top reason .
One of the issues that you approach is war . The second world , you used photos?
JP : I had photos as background, it was for work for college and decided to draw the first and second world war. I liked the look and feel of the photographs themselves, I thought I could do something with it, there is a tradition of drawing and photography in black and white and I liked the result .
You draw faces too, so what attracts you in a certain look ?
JP : I like striking facial features . Incidentally , my self -portrait is slightly different from my face, pulled the skin down, turn off all the lights and put a spotlight directly on my face to emphasize the contrasts and wanted this distorted vision. When I see someone with dramatic facial expressions I feel like drawing. I do not like very normal persons. I like striking faces, so most of them have strange faces .
You like to use black and white .
JP : Yes, less color the better for me, I do not mind anything. Color is just as highlight . In general never use it, since I always drawn in black and white .

The summer tourism will suffer some changes , and the winter in the mountains , as rising temperatures will cause less snow on the highlands and in the southern conditions of saturation and drainage associated with the rains will restrictas certain periods winter and spring.
For the European continent the data is not encouraging is one of the areas hit hardest by climate change. Northern Europe and the central UK area would be heavily affected by the floods, affecting more than double the current annual damage . José Eduardo Agualusa is a reference of portuguese author of African origin, one of his most acclaimed books is " the seller of pasts" that we addressed in this conversation about books .
The seller of pasts has a feature that is a narrative in two shades, on one side Felix Ventura and the other, Eulalio why choose a gecko as a narrator ?
José Eduardo Agualusa : This book has a very funny route. I think the perspective in a novel is very important when you start to write a book. I needed a narrator who had this perspective, from above, because of what happens in the house, in a confined space and then the idea of a gecko came because I lived a lifetime with this animal, was always present. So it was not a strange thing for me and it is curious that I remember I was on tour to present this book in France when a French man asked me that same question and them there was a Senegalese in the room that stood up and asked what was the strangeness? In Africa, in the traditional stories is very normal animals talk and be a part of everyday life and the truth is as simple as that. Not something elaborate, it so happened, because it was the best narrator for each story.
The presence of talking animals, other phenomenans connected to nature is something that runs through the literature of African origin, not only in your case, but also with other writers .
JEA : Let's say that.The wonderful is inserted in reality in a way that has happened in Europe, but that does not happen as much and are still manifested in rural areas, is less current. In most African countries, at least in the cities I know, still is.
Felix Ventura is a character based on a real person ?
JEA : I did invent everything. Completely .
He in the end is a happy man or not ? Despite the curious name .
JEA : Yes it is true. It is the happy fate. I think so, he has a love story that is solved in a positive way, he will be with the woman he loves .
Of all the characters that you describe in this book which was in terms of writing more difficult ?
JEA : The characters that give the most pleasure are those who have more contradictions, are bad ones, the wicked , and this book has a character who is a former member of the state security that turns into a beggar, this was one that gave more pleasure actually to develop .
Why? The dark side ?
JAE : Precisely by his dark side. I always say, good people are easy to understand, but I do not write books to understand this type of people, those I understand. I write books to understand the bad ones.

The " Amoteatro14 ", organized by the Experimental Theatre Group ofCamacha exceeded expectations this year in terms of programming, with the presentation of several national and international groups, but not only. The festival has widened, covering various municipalities of the island and also in terms of public increased beyond expectations.

Basilissa Fernandes : We covered Ponta do Sol , Funchal, Santa Cruz and Camacha .
What has the public approval of the shows ?
BF : It's been fantastic , the first day exceeded expectations, so much so that we were worried with so many people and to tell the truth should have been more than 200 people inside the house of the people of Camacha. The second day with Stefan , the Panai clown, who presented the "solo clown" show, where he works alone, which pleased many people. In Ponta do Sol , the Foundation of John Dos Passos , there was the show of C]atia Terrinca, " the queen of rags" that was created for the colective schools of Odivelas, which had a lot of spectators. On Saturday , the Umcolectivo showed " the tenderest illusion " from " the Sailor " of Fernando Pessoa and on Sunday we had the biggest flood , more than 360 people who were present at Baltazar Dias Theatre to see the Electric Theatre, with a version of Mary Poppins .
Any idea how many spectators passed thru this festival ?
BF : We had over 700 people in the first week . In the restaurant " Basket " the group of first year of the Conservatory School of Arts presented " happy on the porch" play , which was attended by over 60 people.
