A collection of unreleased songs and best of Antonio Variações, sung by Manuela Azevedo, Camané and David Fonseca.
Anthony Variations was a fleeting and glittering meteorite that appeared in the Portuguese music scene, far ahead of his time. Too much ahead, if we take into consideration that he arose in the 80s in Portugal. It was a phenomenon of popularity with the younger audience, who idolized him and even other generations of Portuguese who also surrendered to the quality of his music. The lyrics were literally etched in our memories, whether we liked it or not. The fact is that his songs had an irresistible rhythm and cadence, not to mention his very particular voice tone, which imprints in the songs an even more innovative sound. The singer's image was another of its strengths, with his psychedelic clothes and new age haircut, suffice to say that Anthony Variations was a barber by profession, remind me of David Bowie in his heydays. But as I said earlier this singer's career was short since he died of an unknown illness at the time, which later we came to know as AIDS. If Antonio Variações were born in the U.S. or England certainly would he have had an even more dazzling music career, however, even with the "handicap" of having been born in our country his music was and remains as cool as in the distant eighties. The honor of "the humans" printed in his songs a very personal stamp, which did nothing more than highlight a musical universe of superior quality! I think he'd enjoy this revival any way!
