
The National Commission of UNESCO (CNU) and the Artistic Center "The House on the Side" will celebrate a protocol of collaboration with a view to the creation of a UNESCO Club in Vila Nova de Famalicão, specialized in the area of intervention and artistic creation.
Named "UNESCO Club - A Casa Ao Lado", this structure will have its headquarters in the Casa A Lado facilities, at Avenida 25 de Abril, in Famalicão, assuming the commitment to collaborate and cooperate with local, regional and international institutions in initiatives of the artistic field that share the ideals of UNESCO.
"The mission of A Casa Ao Lado is to support the development of technical skills related to the arts among publics of different age groups, with a special focus on groups in situations of greater social vulnerability. cultural visits, cultural study visits and urban interventions are in keeping with the ideals defended by UNESCO and are the basis of the interest of both institutions in strengthening their relationship, "explains Ricardo Miranda, artistic director of Casa Ao Lado.
For her part, Anna-Paula Ormeche, national coordinator of the UNESCO Club network, stresses that "Casa Ao Lado projects represent an important contribution in promoting social balance and exercising a more conscious and participatory citizenship."
"The UNESCO Club - The House Next Door" will become a partner of the educational community in promoting education for all, aiming at the full integration of young people into the life of the community, thus contributing to the development of the region, always taking into account the principles and values of UNESCO ", reinforces Anna-Paula Ormeche.
Among the initiatives that the "UNESCO Club - Side House" will promote, in line with the values and ideals advocated by UNESCO, will be the development of training programs in the areas of non-formal education, as well as seminars, meetings and exhibitions in the fields of intervention and artistic creation.
It is recalled that the first UNESCO Club appeared in Japan in 1947 as a spontaneous movement of civil society. In Portugal, the first UNESCO Center was created in 1989 in Oporto. The Portuguese network of UNESCO Clubs now has 58 Centers from North to South of the country.

Located in the center of Vila Nova de Famalicão, the Artistic Center "Casa ao lado" seeks the involvement in projects that, based on an education and basic artistic training, allow to ensure the artistic intervention in the communities, consecrating their brand and prioritizing by authenticity.
The "House next door" develops its values of teaching, experimentation and intervention in an intergenerational action promoting knowledge and artistic awareness linked to social responsibility, focusing on different themes and disciplines of the visual and visual arts.
To do this, it works with trainers of specific areas, such as drawing, painting, jewelery, animation cinema, interior decoration, conservation and restoration, photography, illustration, filmmaking, video, multimedia, among others.
