It is the first edition of this film show that will take place between 13th and15th of September at Paul do Mar.
According to the organizers of this event one of the main reasons for the creation of this festival "happen mainly because of the waves of Madeira are known internationally among practicing professionals and amateurs who already many years ago seeking the island's ideal spots for surfing with particular focus at Jardim do Mar and Paul do Mar ". Another reason relates to "the remarkable increase in the number of practitioners of this sport in the region a decade ago to the present, as well as the demand for specific training through various schools that currently exist in Madeira, for learning this sport action "according to the organization.
During the end-of-week, MadSwell give the opportunity to the general public, to watch films about surfing, in documentary and fiction, in the long and short form of movies. The projections of the films take place at Hotel Paul do Mar, in two rooms converted for this purpose, one indoor and the other outdoor.
It was agreed a partnership with the Portuguese Surf Film Festival towards the 5 films being screened winners of each of the five categories in the competition, of that festival.
