The graphic work of one of the best national cartoonists.

João Abel Manta is perhaps a name that does not say much too many people, even in the most intellectual circles, now, if you search this name in Google you easily reach the cartoons and there will be a series of ahhhhh of recognition of the work of this remarkable caricaturist. Rarely we do speak of this noble art of showing with fine humor and a certain irony some of the most remarkable events of a society, in just half a dozen strokes, particularly in the Portugal before and after April 25th, 1974. This book is about his graphic work traces this trajectory through images of his career, not only as a cartoonist, but also as an illustrator and artist. Highlight in particular, cartoons about Salazar and the fierce social criticism he addresses to the New State. It is especially a great work, not so much to be read, but to be veneered and reflected, which mainly serves to remind us of how we got here as a nation and who were these anonymous heroes who defended freedom at any cost, even with their own life . Good reading.
