It was the first album of Sara Tavares to the world. And rightly so it happened.
The first time I heard the crystalline voice of Sara Tavares, she was fifteen years old and participated for the first time in her life in a television musical contest called "shower of stars", which she applied thanks to the complicity of a neighbor in order to surprise her grandmother. Never shall I forget the emotion I felt when I hear her sing a theme of Whitney Houston. I believe that American singer, had it been there she would have congratulated this passionate young woman descendent of Cape Verdean for her magnificent interpretation of one of its most successful themes. By the way, for those who do not know, Sara Tavares won that first edition of the contest and became a very special star in the Portuguese music scene. "Mi ma bô" was her first album. A test to the versatility of her smooth voice full of warmth and her different kinds of shades that you can hear in this wonderful work. It is a melting pot of cultures brought together in one CD. An homage to her origins, of Cape Verde, Portuguese and the influences of American music. The theme "I know" is the stone in the pond of this work. It is my favorite and of course it could just be the Sara Tavares to interpret this exciting song, say what you say, but only she could do pull it of. "mi ma bô" which gives the title to this disc, is so simple that even if we do not realize its significance we soon feel calm and happy. "You are the sun" is another song of this compilation that will be associated with her talent, since she also co-produced this album full of musical pearls.
