A taste of sunshine

Written by

It is a tribute to Eugenia Melo e Castro to Brazilian music, one more but that is not all.

Eugenia Melo e Castro always had an intermittent career in Portugal. It is a sporadic relationship, almost distant, but when she returns is so familiar that we immediately forget how long it was between the first and last time that we relish with her velvet voice. The intimacy we establish with their sound is always so bare, we know that she lives and breathes, but never bored to ask. And is not that we do not like Geninha (as she is affectionately called) is that we know of her need of wondering and invariably we do not require her permanent presence, inwardly we sense that she is very close by, because when she returns, although discreetly, her coming back is always an event. As someone who is very dear to us, who we have not seen for a long time and seeing her flood us with an immediate nostalgia and we do not want to hear about losing her again to Vera Cruz. "A taste of sunshine" is a tribute to the authors of Minas Gerais. It is a work that in its origin is somewhat conceptual, because it is a very personal approach to the Brazilian world of music that we liked so much. Well, at least I do. It is a repertoire full of cameos, filled with artists who are very dear to Eugenia Melo e Castro and the Portuguese. It is also a celebration of the 30 year anniversary of the career of this Portuguese singer and songwriter. Did I not warn you?  Was it so long ago? That's right, it was. As I said it before we did not felt the signs of time. I will not highlight any song; all of them are so tasty, as the Brazilians say. Although the CD has already been launched in Sao Paulo, she will come to Portugal in June of this year to present this new work, full of poets with a taste of sun. Indulge yourself!
