A journey to the center of the volcano

Written by

Come along to the town of San Vicente and find a nice surprise.

How many of us read the "A journey to the Center of the Earth" by Jules Verne ? And dreamed of the feats of fearless explorers , true to themselves, homeless adventurers , always attentive to all the dangers lurking at every step of an odyssey into the unknown ? All, I think. Well , real life has nothing to do it ! But to not disappoint even the most unsuspecting , I will relate a journey through the bowels of a volcano that enclose also wonders without equal.

The journey begins outside, in a lush mountainous block in which one sees a building that almost merges with the landscape and that welcome us to the caves of São Vicente . Nature unfolds in many shapes and colors that regale the eye , but the tunnel awaits us and the adventure begins ... The darkness momentary motivated by the scarcity of natural light is quickly replaced by a dense rock formation that is intersected by a small passage that we travel instinctively. We followed the track of the guide that will set a gradual compass revealing the mysteries of cooled lava over thousands of years , at a time when major eruptions were fought by the cool waters of the oceans and the strong winds. Of those Dantesque hells, remains the gray shafts paralyzed in time, which now glide small streams of water in a refreshing environment. But life in the depths of an extinct volcano also happens even surrounded by tubes of wrinkled rock and thanks to strategically placed focus, are born green plants , whose leaves caress the light in search of the much needed comfort to its survival. In Zigzag little by little we discover the chamber of desires with its volcanic stalactites , which literally dripping lava solidified over the millennia. The volcanic convulsions generously left a trail of channels and the galleries where successive small lakes of a crystal clear emerald water and sculptural mounds of cooled lava thru a distance of over 1000 meters long and when you least expect the odyssey ends and we stopped been explorers, to became mere mortals again.
